I was approached by 8SJ Catering to develop a brand identity that felt approachable, while still retaining the edgy personality that defines their values. The brand draws inspiration from Viking culture, so a key part of the brief was to incorporate Viking themes that reference the business’s Yorkshire roots and the region’s Norse heritage.
The final result centres around a distinctive mascot-style Viking, paired with a bold blackletter typeface that reinforces the brand’s character. The combination balances attitude with approachability, edgy enough to sit comfortably within biker culture, yet friendly enough to appeal to the wider festival crowd.
The mascot gives 8SJ Catering a memorable and recognisable brand asset that can extend beyond the logo into signage, merchandise, packaging, and event graphics. This flexibility ensures the brand remains impactful in busy environments such as biker rallies, festivals, and pub events.
